I'm inspired and intrigued by the ease in which powerful women show up in their work spaces. If as they have the script that that most of us are struggling to read and follow.
In light of the historic Biden/Harris administration, let's' take deep dive into two of the most visible women on the world's stage in January 2021; Vice President Kamala Harris and Dr. Jill Biden, our First Lady of the United States.
Vice President Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician and attorney who is the vice president-elect of the United States.
She is the United States' first female vice president, the highest-ranking female elected official in U.S. history, and the first African American and first Asian American vice president.
Harris, 55, who is the daughter of immigrants — her father is Jamaican and her mother is Indian — has been leading as a public servant for decades: She was the district attorney of San Francisco and the attorney general of California before becoming a California senator in 2017.
Dr. Jill Biden
Jill Tracy Biden is an American educator who was the second lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017. She is married to Joe Biden, the president of the United States and is the First Lady of the United States.
Biden's husband was elected president and took the oath of office on January 20, 2021. She will become the first spouse since Barbara Bush to hold the positions of both Second Lady and First Lady and will be the first spouse since Pat Nixon to hold them non consecutively. She will also become the first ever Italian American first lady.[110][8] She has reiterated that she plans to continue teaching, which would make her the first wife of a sitting US president to hold a paying job outside the White House.[111]

My observations lead me to believe that both of these powerful women have made three critical investments:
Definitions
Mindset is defined as a mental attitude or inclination
Skillset is defined as collection of skills and abilities that can be applied to a professional or creative endeavor.
Network is defined as a usually informally interconnected group or association of persons (such as friends or professional colleagues)
Definitions are from www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary
The three investments our Vice President of The United States and our First Lady of The United States makes
Mindset for both appears to be growth as defined by Carol Dweck, the psychologist. Both are very accomplished and have demonstrated by the decisions they've made that they are okay with going against the conventional trends of the day.
Skill set for both appears to be strong in written and verbal communication and effective listening. They have both demonstrated confidence, assertiveness and charisma.
Network for both appears to be healthy and supportive relationships with their husbands, close family members, children and step children
As your leadership coach, I implore you to invest in your mindset, skill set and your network.
